Ethos and Values
At Ashley Down Primary School, our ethos is summarised by our vision statement:
High aspirations in a nurturing environment.
We are privileged to be part of the wonderful community that is Ashley Down Primary School. Our school is a welcoming and happy place where we learn, play and grow together as a team. We foster a nurturing and supportive environment that allows everyone in our community to be themselves and be proud of all they achieve. We have high aspirations for every child in our school and support them to be the best they can be. This is a focus of our academic curriculum and our bespoke and unique 'life learning' curriculum which supports children to develop and grown as citizens in a community.
Our school values are :

Compassion

Respect

Commitment

Joy
We have three simple rules:

Living Wall and Biodiversity Project
At Ashley Down Primary School, we are committed to fostering a love for nature and promoting environmental sustainability. Our recent collaboration with Butterfly Conversation to create a living wall in our school playground is a testament to these values.
This project, involving children from years 1 and 2, aimed to increase the habitats in which butterflies and other animals can thrive. By enhancing biodiversity, we hope to create a more vibrant and sustainable environment for our students and the local wildlife.
The living wall project is a shining example of our school values in action. It demonstrates our commitment to:
• Respect for Nature: Encouraging students to appreciate and care for the natural world.
• Community Involvement: Bringing together students, staff, and the wider community to work towards a common goal.
• Hands-on Learning: Providing practical experiences that enhance our students' understanding of environmental science and sustainability.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication shown by our students and staff in making this project a success. We hope you enjoy the video showcasing their efforts and the positive impact on our school environment.
